About Me
My inspiration to create comes from a variety of things....comics, graffiti, abstract paintings, fashion, photography, and things that I see around me in everyday life that most people take for granted. It can be the architecture of a huge skyscraper or a crack in the cement...the biggest and/or smallest things can set off an idea for me and get the wheels turning in my head.
I was born in Oxford, England but grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and now reside in Brooklyn, New York. My love for art started at a very young age. Having grown up on comic books and cartoons, these things planted the seeds in my mind and gave birth to what would eventually become a vivid imagination. These influences stayed with me to this day and have always shown heavily in my drawings over the years. As I reached my teenage years, fashion and graffiti art also became inspirations to me. Having become a huge sneaker fan during those teen years (and still am today), In late 2002 I got the inspiration to use sneakers as another canvas for my art since I not only saw it as an outside the box idea for a canvas, but I also liked the idea of having my favorite shoes in colors and styles that weren't and aren't readily available in stores. As a self-taught artist, I spent a number of years following honing my craft in that area and as my style developed, in 2008, I started what would later become Ecentrik Artistry...a business venture which consists of custom hand painted footwear, toys, and even canvas paintings.
In 2014, I developed a love for photography as well, which was inspired by both my sneaker art and the talents of some close friends in the photography industry. I'm still a novice in the photography area but am steadily getting the feel of it (which is currently a hobby at this point) as there is so much inspiration around me fueling my desire to explore that realm.
I have so many ideas and levels I want to take my crafts to. Despite how long I've been creating art, I feel like I've barely scratched the surface. I look at what I do as not only a passion, but a lifelong journey and I'm more than happy to continue on even after reaching various levels of success. No matter how much I accomplish, I want to continue to find new challenges to take on. Our lives are constantly a work in progress.
